What I liked

Lots of good experience and got to utilize and learn how to use interesting tools that used machine learning and analytics

What I wish was different

Was hired through a small consulting company and used as a contractor so did not get the perks of an official intern at Accenture.

Advice

Make sure to double check and ensure from a recruiter directly in writing that you will be able to get all the perks mentioned.

Advanced App Engineering Analyst

June - August 2018 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

I loved the many people within the company, the culture, and the opportunity to be a part of a team on a client site as an intern. I got to do actual work, and at the same time I met so many people and had a lot of fun. Accenture really pushes its events and networking, and there were plenty of opportunities to do so. They also flew all of their interns to a training center in Chicago for one weekend and it was an absolute blast. My summer at Accenture provided me with three things: good experience, lots of opportunities to network, and great new connections.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have been on a different client project. Obviously not every project is as exciting as the next, and it was just the luck of the draw. Otherwise I don't really have any other complaints. Very great internship experience with the opportunity for a full-time position afterwards.

Advice

Meet people and go to events! There are so many amazing people in the company, and so many opportunities to meet others from various backgrounds. The company believes its people are its most important asset, so it's definitely worth getting to know many of them.

Consulting Summer Analyst

June - August 2018 • Houston, TX

What I liked

My team gave me a lot of responsibility and chances to grow, and they did so very thoughtfully. I felt by the end of the summer that they came to rely on me as a productive part of the team, and not just as an intern they had to look out for.

What I wish was different

The client site affects your experience greatly since you are there 4 days of the week, and I didn’t like the site that I was at.

Advice

Be confident in what you can offer. It’s easy as an intern or young professional to assume that the seasoned employees know how to do the job better, but if you don’t trust yourself, you will never step out enough to make a significant impact on your team.

Consulting Intern

June - August 2018 • Bangalore, Karnataka

What I liked

Learnt a lot about the company as well as gained technical skills in Adobe software

What I wish was different

More consistent delegation of tasks throughout my internship experience

Advice

Speak with your supervisor at the outset of your internship to introduce yourself properly and what you're excited to learn about and what your career goals are so that they can tailor some of your tasks to further that.

Advice

Take the summer to connect with as many managers, analysts, consultants, senior managers, and managing directors. Don't be shy cold emailing people. Everyone wants to see you succeed.

Client Financial Management Summer Analyst

June - August 2017 • Dallas, TX

What I liked

The company treated their interns extremely well! We got a ton of exposure to high-level Finance executives and got to do really cool socials throughout the summer like doing an Escape Room and going to Top Golf. I loved it. We also got to go to a Leadership Conference, where we got even more exposure to leadership.

What I wish was different

There was a lot of idle time, so I wish I was given more projects to do.

Advice

I would encourage future interns to network and put theirselves out there. Accenture loves when people collaborate and find ways to engage in their community.

What I liked

Steep learning curve, did real work, got along well with team, people were extremely willing to help, learned a lot of new useful skills, great client site accommodations

What I wish was different

More intern activities, a better end-of-the-summer trip such as those in competing firms, not everyone got good client site housing/travel accommodations

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask for what you want, network with a lot of people, get to know the firm well through the people you meet

Security Consulting Intern

June - August 2017 • Boston, MA

What I liked

The work and the people. Work was challenging, but you felt like you contributed in a valuable way.

What I wish was different

I wish they made it more clear that it would be a programming heavy internship rather than consulting.

Advice

Work hard during an internship and you will most likely get a full time offer from them.

What I liked

Really great company culture, present mentorship, really nice people.

What I wish was different

A little bit too much focus on hierarchical differences but keep in mind this was in Greece.

Advice

Don't hesitate to ask questions.

Summer Analyst

June - July 2017 • Houston, TX

What I liked

This was one of the only consulting opportunities open to sophomores, so I was very glad I got to do something in the industry. Accenture is a really awesome place and I felt like I made some really strong connections with people ranging from first year analysts to managing directors. It also gave me an opportunity to go through training that was useful for all consulting work.

What I wish was different

I wish the program would have been longer, it was only 6 weeks. And while I had the internship, the sophomores in Houston were staffed in office. I ended up without a project, because they wanted us to do internal work. The people that advised me were not aligned to Accenture Strategy and had little communication with the Strategy leads for the internship program. I often ended up doing busy work for my supervisors, which is not what I was told I would be doing.

Advice

If you intern as a sophomore, make sure you take every opportunity to network. Also, don't be afraid to speak up and ask for more work.

Strategy Summer Analyst

June - August 2017 • Houston, TX

What I liked

I liked how we were put on a real project and were actually given responsibility. I got to sit in on client meetings and contribute ideas and work with the leadership.

What I wish was different

I think that my work-life balance over the summer was lacking, but I also think that my project was a good reflection of the job as a whole.

Advice

You will likely travel during your summer internship and experience what it is like to be an actual consultant, so keep thinking about whether consulting is something that you want to do after graduation, based off of your summer experience.

Summer Analyst

June - August 2017 • Philadelphia, PA

What I liked

Lots of networking, great experience as to what the analyst position looks like, awesome exposure to company culture

What I wish was different

More choice in the position placement; however, although I didn't get my first internship location I did get my first choice location for my full-time offer!

Advice

Ask lots of questions and don't be afraid to ask for more responsibilities/explore different areas. The internship is structured really well but you can make it even more rewarding by being unafraid

Marketing & Communication Summer Analyst

June - August 2017 • New York City, NY

What I liked

The people I worked with were very intelligent, friendly, and all loved the company for what it represents. The internship experience allowed me to meet students from other universities who were passionate about Accenture as well!

What I wish was different

I wish there were more intern bonding activities - there was a very large group in NYC but it was quite fragmented due to the multiple divisions and the consulting analysts being out of the office most days of the week.

Advice

Never be afraid to ask questions and want to explore outside of the division or industry you are assigned. At Accenture, they encourage such curiosity and see an intern as a member of the company as a whole, rather than as aligned to a specific part of the company.

What I liked

I really liked the large amount of responsibility they gave me. They treated me as an Analyst and not an intern.

What I wish was different

I would have preferred to be in a different office.

Summer Security Consulting Analyst

June - August 2018 • Boston, MA

What I liked

- Interns are given real and applicable work that is challenging but also interesting - Everyone there, employees and interns alike, are super friendly and always willing to help out - There are great networking opportunities to meet managing directors, employees, and interns from all over the US

What I wish was different

- The learning curve is pretty massive. You spend the first two weeks of your internship just learning things - You are expected to put in long hours, even if you aren't being paid overtime, to get the work done

Advice

Take initiative to learn new things and take on new responsibility! No one is going to be there to hold your hand and give you a bunch of directions. Try new things and take risks. Going above and beyond will set you apart from other interns.
