Sales Associate

June 2019 • Gretna, NE

What I liked

I like interacting with customers and helping them find exactly what they need in order for them to have a positive experience in our store. I also like how much fun I have at work with my coworkers! It is a very fun working environment.

What I wish was different

I don't really want anything to be different.

Advice

I would say that you need to be very patient at this job because working with watches can be very tricky. You should also be able to pay attention to small details because you'll need that when you're fixing watches and when customers tell you what kind of product they're looking for. Staying on task and being efficient is necessary as well because on the weekends the Outlets get pretty busy.

UI/UX Intern

June - August 2017 • Richardson, TX

What I liked

I was able to get real experience tackling real problems. I worked on actual projects and contributed to real solutions; I wasn't doing busy work or grabbing the coffee. The corporate office has some really great amenities like a fitness center, a coffee shop that brews Starbucks, a cafeteria, a library and a few stores in the building (one for shopping and a few for show-rooming). The building has an industrial-modern feel to it and although it's filled with low-walled cubicles, there's plenty of sunlight as well as a courtyard and a parking garage. The interns were given a group project and this was a really great way to learn about the marketing, distribution and production side of the company.

What I wish was different

I wasn't assisted with housing and it was difficult to find reasonably priced short term leases in Richardson/Dallas. Most of the interns lived geographically closer than I was. I ended up in a few different AirBnb's which was less than ideal.

Advice

This internship will give you amazing UI/UX experience in an E-Commerce space. The internship was more UX heavy - so really good for anyone who wants to get into researching, prototyping, user testing, etc. Go after this internship if you're leaning more towards UX, if you want to begin to specialize in E-commerce, and/or if you want to understand how retail companies work as a whole.
