Job Purpose
The Statistical Analyst position is responsible primarily for data analysis in quantitative marketing research projects, particularly when advanced statistical procedures are appropriate. Examples include Correspondence Analysis, Factor Analysis, Regression, Cluster Analysis, Discriminant Analysis, CHAID, significance testing, and other statistical techniques. Statistical tools are applied in an iterative process of exploring research data and finding patterns and insights that address our client’s strategic objectives.

Core responsibilities
· Provide advice and assistance in developing research plans and proposals (e.g., appropriate methodologies, analysis plans)
· Provide advice and assistance in developing research instruments, such as sampling plans and questionnaires
· Select and apply appropriate methods for data analysis, including data preparation and weighting, cross-tabulations, and multivariate statistical techniques
· Contribute to report preparation by effectively communicating in words and visuals the data analysis findings and methods
· Collaborate with account service teams and strategists
· Interact with clients when appropriate to learn their information needs and business objectives and to help them understand our research methods and findings
· Assist in developing S+R proprietary tools and methods
· Keep up with emerging market research methodologies through professional education and involvement in field tests of new methods
· Assist in advancing the statistical knowledge of colleagues
Required Skills
· Competence in multivariate statistical techniques (regression, factor analysis, cluster analysis, discriminant analysis)
· Proficiency with SPSS and/or R
· Proficiency with MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint charts
· Strong spoken and written English
Preferred Skills
· Knowledge of Behavioral Economics theories and experimental design
· Familiarity with Q software
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree (Master’s, Ph.D.) with a concentration in Statistics or Applied Statistics in social science or business preferred. Market research experience preferred.
