Via live, virtual, and self-paced courses on our proprietary learning management software, we train today’s business leaders in areas including machine learning, data science, and databases. Cognitir’s current clients include global CFA societies, top-10 US MBA programs, and Fortune 500 corporations.
We are looking for a General Manager to help us grow the business, execute the company’s strategy, and formulate new strategies given customer feedback and product data.
This individual will have P&L responsibility and the ability to directly shape the company’s strategy. The role offers a direct pathway to a CXO role within the company after sustained performance and will report directly to the company’s founders while having autonomous decision-making authority.
Responsibilities:
- Grow the online system and live businesses through strategic partnerships, enterprise licenses, and direct consumer sales
- Interface with customers and partners to understand user needs and translate those needs to new features and products for the company
- Create and source third party content for the self-paced online system
- Identify and validate new markets for Cognitir’s current products
- Recruit and continue building out the team
- Lead fundraising efforts
Requirements:
- Strongly preferred: Proven business acumen either through education (e.g. MBA degree) or industry experience
- Strongly preferred: Experience working in a fast-growing startup in strategy, business operations, business development, or growth marketing roles
- Preferred: Prior experience in management consulting, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, corporate development, or product management
- Preferred: Undergraduate degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or finance (not a strict requirement)
- Bonus points: Individuals who previously founded companies
- Note: This is not a “join for a year or two and leave” role. We are looking for someone to join the team and grow into a CXO role within the company
Desired Traits:
- Passion for and knowledge of the corporate training / eLearning industries
- Basic knowledge of SaaS subscription models
- Exceptional problem-solving skills
- Exceptional time management and prioritization skills
- Demonstrated ability to learn complex concepts quickly
- Demonstrated comfort with complex data analysis and strong quantitative skills
- Self-starter and highly motivated - this role will require significant hustle
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral). Ideally, you are a “connector” with a large network across a variety of industries

Start Date:
The person will join Cognitir in the first half of April on a part-time basis through the end of her/his MBA program (if applicable). This will allow the person to learn about Cognitir and its products before joining the company full-time.
In mid/late May, after graduating from business school, she/he will join Cognitir full-time.
