Biological Science Technician (Raleigh S & T)

Year 2 GS 8 - $ 50,272
Year 3 and beyond GS 9 - $ 55,525+

Summary
The incumbent is assigned to a work unit in PPQ-S&T. The incumbent is responsible for assessing reports and interpreting biological data in support of various scientific studies to provides support for science-based problems related to regulatory plant pests, arthropods and pathogens that threaten the U.S. agriculture and national resources.




Responsibilities


The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity.

The duties may include, but are not limited to:

Develops and prepares study plans using scientific hypotheses, attending to all resulting technical and administrative concerns.

Assists in the preparation of scientific briefing papers, reports, and newsletters by searching, selecting, reading, and compiling scientific information for use in documents.

Makes arrangements for national scientific meetings, workshops, conferences, seminars, and planning sessions in support of the development and maintenance of national PPQ programs.

Assists in implementing and maintaining a system to manage biological research and technology development programs including work plan schedules, milestones, and deadlines.

Assists Director's office personnel in issuance of newsletters, maintaining project tracking databases, and preparing presentation materials for seminars and meetings.
