Criminal Justice Instructor

Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean of Public Safety, the Criminal Justice Instructor provides classroom, laboratory and field instruction in Criminal Justice Associate Degree and Technical Diploma courses that reflect policing in rural communities. The position requires Wisconsin Department of Justice Law Enforcement Training and Standards Bureau (WIDOJ/LESB) instructor credentials. Faculty maintain availability to students, develop and maintain curriculum and programs, and actively participate in the diverse communities served by the College. Faculty work a year-round schedule of three equal terms that is supported by a renewable annual contract.
 
Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field, a minimum of 3 years (6,000 hours) of verifiable occupational work experience as a Law Enforcement Officer; 1 year (2,000 hours) must be within the last 5 years, and Wisconsin Department of Justice Law Enforcement Standards Board certifications in Constitutional Law.
 
The ideal candidate also has a graduate degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field, recent teaching experience in a post-secondary setting, and experience with a variety of instructional delivery methods: face to face, clinical, lab, and online. Additional Wisconsin Department of Justice Law Enforcement Standards Board certifications to include; Firearms Instructor, Defensive and Arrest Tactics (DAAT) Instructor, Tactical Response Instructor, and Professional Communication Skill Instructor (Pro Comm) are preferred.
