What I liked

The management was encouraging, and you were always pushed to do things that interested you.

What I wish was different

The company culture was a little bland, and it felt way too corporate. However, this is a financial institution so that is a given.

Advice

Talk to as many people as possible, there are many experienced people that work here that know what they are talking about. Learn more about financial health while you are here, it is a great opportunity and they provide you with a ton of resources as an employee.

What I liked

This internship allowed me to do hands-on work. I was able to learn so much in a 9 week period. I shadowed different departments and even did an end of the internship project with the other interns to solve a problem that Schwab had. We were able to meet with important people from the company, allowing me to step out of my comfort zone.

They only taught skills applicable to working in the branch (understandably), but I wish I had experienced more aspects of the business.

Advice

Be a sponge! Absorb as much info as you can, and take advantage of your Schwab network. Everyone is kind and willing to help you out, even if you're new to the company.

Data Engineer Intern

What I liked

Was able to work on a real project from end to end. Mentors were willing to answer any and all questions. Exposure to what really happens in the industry and meeting people in high positions were also great experiences

Being able to work with mentors in person rather than through video calls

Be ready to learn a lot and don’t be afraid to ask a lot of questions.
