Sales Associate

May - August 2019 • Tampa, FL

What I liked

I enjoyed working in a team environment for a company that has a focus on setting and achieving goals. I liked how all the managers and coworkers were always willing to help and were very supporting and accepting of all employees. I also liked having the opportunity to work in multiple departments of the store.

What I wish was different

I really enjoyed working at Nike.

Advice

The best advice I can offer on this job experience would be to always keep a positive attitude and not let small issues affect your mood.

Financial Analyst Intern

What I liked

This was an amazing experience and I learned so much! I loved how Nike gave us the opportunity to also work in a team with other interns from different majors and do a project together. There were also intern intramural leagues and lots of perks.

Advice

If you want to get an internship or job at Nike, you need to either be an athlete, be absolutely outstanding, or know someone.

Product Management Intern

May - August 2018 • Beaverton, OR

What I liked

I loved working cross functionally on the intern "Combine"project as well as the fun intern events they had at headquarters. I loved being surrounded by likeminded individuals who had the passion for sports and being active. As an intern you really got the true Nike experience as if you were to be hired there full time. I was able to network with various employees across the company to gain an understanding of their roles which helped determine what I would ultimately be interested. The internship program gave you a lot of real work experience and I was performing tasks similar to my coworkers. Everyone there was super friendly and eager to speak to all the interns.

What I wish was different

Knowing more about the return offers for full time positions. There's a lot of interns and not all get return offers. Most have to network their way in to get a return offer.

Advice

Meet as many people as you can during the internship and be eager to learn. The amount of connections I have made in just 12 weeks was amazing but it also involves you putting yourself out there and taking the initiative to meet people. I met individuals who work with top athletes in the NFL and train professional athletes and had I not gone out of my comfort zone to meet these people, I would've missed out on these cool opportunities. So you never know who you'll meet! Also, take every opportunity to learn and be open to learning more. Full time employees love knowing that you want to learn more and don't have all the answers.

Procurement Technititian

What I liked

The early work hours and flexibility are amazing, this coupled with an welcoming and enjoyable work environment makes it fun and rewarding to go to work everyday.

What I wish was different

I wanted more base pay, however I am currently in negotiations to advance my salary.

Advice

My best piece of advice would be that when you're working is to make sure you start your day early in order to get the most out of your day. In order to balance school, work, hobbies, family, and your social life it is not unexpected to be awake for 16-19 hours of the day. With the right time management skills you can maximize that time and maintain everything cordially.

Nike Employee - Operations

June 2018 • Deer Park, NY

What I liked

I loved the people I was able to meet and work with. Nike has a great team when it comes to operating a business, and it was a pleasure working along side all the other athletes (co-workers). I also liked the system of hours they had arranged, and of course the discounts were a very nice touch. I also enjoyed my flexibility when it came to the floor, I was able to move around a lot and help out in any way necessary, it was a great experience builder.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had more time with the company, as I had to return to school, but I am still in touch with various stores around the state.

Advice

I advise people to step out of their comfort zone when it comes to meeting new people, and working on their communication and salesman skills. It was very important to push the technology and sales when I was at the store, and that was definitely one of the highlights on my time there. My last piece of advice is to follow your passion, and pursue any company or interest you have, my interest was not only in Nike, but also the message behind the brand and I brought more to the table than what they bargained for. Push yourself, and exceed your boundaries.

I liked how open of a campus it is. Everyone is willing to talk to you because you're an intern. All the happy hours and events going on made work really fun.

What I liked

The company culture at Nike is incredible and they put a lot of trust and responsibility into their interns. My project was awesome and the people I worked with were great.

Advice

HR Talent Acquisition Intern

May - August 2018 • Beaverton, OR

What I liked

Nike does an amazing job hosting interns over the summer. Not only did we get a first class business experience with the most amazing company, but we also got to go on adventures and trips as a whole intern class. I met so many new people and strengthened my professional skills immensely. This was a life changing experience and I will always be grateful for my time at Nike. #swooshlife

What I wish was different

Since Nike is such a big company with so many different departments, interns are not always guaranteed a return offer. Most of the interns have to network their way back into the company which can get challenging at times.

Advice

One piece of advice I would share about interning with Nike is always embrace the ambiguity. Nike is a large company and has a lot happening, so as an intern you have to be comfortable with owning your work and rolling with your ideas. One other thing I would say is to participate in every opportunity they offer, whether it be a speaker series, the white water rafting trip, or even volunteering for an event.

One campus plan intern

May - August 2018 • Beaverton, OR

What I liked

I loved working at the World Headquarters of one of my favorite companies. I was able to meet some of my favorite athletes and talk with workers from all around the world. There was always something going on.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have looked into housing more before going there because I had to go through the corporate option and it was nice but expensive.

Advice

I met at least one new person everyday and challenged myself to get into work early and stay later a few times a week to maximize my short time there. Nike loves driven individuals and anything you can do to stand out will be recognized.
