Launch Intern

June - August 2018 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I enjoyed that each day was an extremely new experience, with new knowledge to be acquired. The site visits in Manhattan also shouldn't be underestimated. Lastly, I was able to meet so many people and make friends, ranging from other interns that grew up across the country, to staff 2s, to partners of the firm.

What I wish was different

I wish that there was consistent work. Some days, I was finishing tasks on my train ride home, while other days I was requesting work from anyone who could give me something to do.

Advice

Apply early! No, freshman year is not too early to get an internship, and you don't need to know anything about the practice going into the job. They are willing to teach you if you are eager to learn, regardless of your age.

Advice

I applied to the EY ELP (Leadership Program) which after interviewing guaranteed me an internship for the following summer. It was nice to not have to worry about interviewing and applying for my entire junior year.

Audit Intern

June - August 2019 • Philadelphia, PA

What I liked

I worked with a great team, the intern events were nice and fun. I also liked the location of the office and the places close to it. The EY badges program is unique and a great way to learn about an area of interest that will be disruptive in the future. I loved how they accommodated the fact that I didn't have a driver's license when I was interning. They gave me an easy commute which made things simpler for me. The audit work wasn't hard either. It was a lot of ticking and tying out audit evidence, control forms filling, test of controls, a bit of testing accounts and setting up exhibits.

What I wish was different

I would have liked to explore different industries while I was interning but that was mainly because I didn't have a drive's license. I would have been at least 2 or 3 different engagements otherwise. I also wanted to get to know my peer advisor more but we didn't get the chance to sit down and have lunch. I was also hoping that our audit training would be more interesting.

Advice

Definitely ask questions of your team about the most efficient way to go about work, best practices and what it takes to succeed at the firm. Try to find out what their interest are so that you can make a connection with your team because it makes you feel better about going to work.

Analyst (Management Consulting)

June - August 2018 • San Francisco, CA

What I liked

It was an incredibly competitive internship and I was the first LMU student to receive the offer.

What I wish was different

I wish that LMU had access to management consulting firms MBB. Mckinsey, Boston Consulting Group, Bain, as those management consulting firms do not recruit from LMU.

Advice

Put yourself out there, find opportunities, they are not going to come to you.

Risk Advisory Intern

June - August 2018 • Mumbai, Maharashtra

What I liked

Lots of interaction with clients and EY employees. People were always willing to help and were excited to get to know me. A lot of travel and real work that made a difference to the client. Lot of autonomy and space to learn.

What I wish was different

Perhaps it could’ve been more structured. However EY India does not have an official intern program, so I am very grateful for the opportunity.

Advice

Be open and willing to learn from and get to know as many people as possible.

Launch Intern

June - August 2019 • Iselin, NJ

What I liked

I loved the work environment that EY had provided to me. Everyone was incredibly hard working and driven, but were also very team-oriented. The employees were always were supportive and pushed me to be the best worker I could be!

What I wish was different

The one thing that I wish had been different about the internship was the length of the internship. The launch program was six weeks long, but I wish it were 8+ weeks long so that I could learn more about what it meant to work at EY.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions. Employers don't expect you to know everything about everything, but they do want you to be open minded and always ambitious to learn more. This is a very important quality to have and it will allow you to thrive in the future.

Assurance Intern

June - August 2023 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I enjoyed working in a corporate environment and getting the experience of going to a client site. They also offered the interns various activities in the metaverse, which was an interesting learning experience.

What I wish was different

I wish the intern events were more structured so that networking would actually occur. Since there were so many of us and most of us were fairly new to networking, people generally stuck with who they already knew.

Advice

Don't be shy to ask questions and ask for opportunities!

Tax Intern

June - August 2018 • San Jose, CA

What I liked

I had a chance to network with other interns and professionals within the field. Thus, I've learned so much about tax as well as the firm culture and people, which I'm absolutely in love with and would love to come back for full time. Also, one of the most unexpected thing is that I've met and made close friends with the interns, which I'm very grateful and happy about during and after the internship. Overall, this has been the most amazing summer and internship experience I've ever had!

What I wish was different

I wish the duration of the internship were longer, so I have a chance to learn more about the technical side of tax and the firm in general.

Advice

Be open and willing to get out of your comfort zone to reach out and expand your network with other professionals and ask as many questions as you can. Last but not least, have fun and enjoy the experience!
