Walmart & Sam's Club

Cashier

December 2017 • Arnold, MO

What I liked

I like the managers who watch out for me, and the co-workers who are always willing to help when you need it. The relationships I’ve built with management have made working there quite easy.

What I wish was different

I wish that certain people in management people learn to step up past their own feelings towards individuals and act like the leaders they are suppose to be. I rather them act like a leader than a child that does not get their way because someone does not like them.

Advice

You need to have tough skin when it comes to this kind of position. Sadly, you will be mentally abused by these customers when they do not get their way. But that is how it is with every job. Be ready to find information on your own sometimes because people don’t know the answer.

Walmart photo sales

May 2017 • Aurora, CO

What I liked

Honestly my assistant manager at my department was the best. He made sure I received everything I needed to do my job right. I worked at the photo department making photos and at times I need equipment like frames and other stuff. I was the only one working at that area but luckily the photo lab shop was moved to the electronic area due to renovation. Fellow associates are very kind and nice as well.

What I wish was different

I wish they could hire more people at the photo lab. Due to my working ethics and great performances, the company decided to put me on educational leave when I turned in my two weeks notice. I agreed to it and what that means is that, when school starts, I don’t work and I only work on breaks from school. Due to that, I always end up correcting several wrongs before the person that takes over doesn’t know much. I just wish they could hire someone so I can train and have him or her take over the place good while I’m in school pursuing my educational career.

Advice

What I will say is some customers are very irritating but whatever that you are doing either an internship or an associate at whatever company, just put on a smile and do your job with your best effort. That is how excellence is displayed.
